• You already hold a valid residence permit issued by a Schengen country
• You hold a valid long-stay visa issued by a Schengen country

Estonia Visa Requirements

Most applicants should be ready to provide:

Estonian guidance for Schengen visa documents lists travel medical insurance valid in all Schengen countries with coverage of at least €30,000. It also states that sufficient financial means for Estonia are calculated at €70 per day of stay.

Estonia may ask for different supporting documents depending on the applicant’s nationality, country of residence, and purpose of travel. In some countries, another Schengen Member State represents Estonia for Schengen visa applications, and Estonia advises applicants to follow the document guidance of that representing embassy.

  Estonia should usually be the visa country if it is your only destination, your main destination, or your first Schengen entry point when the main destination cannot be determined.
• Find the correct submission route
  You may apply through an Estonian representation, another Schengen state representing Estonia, or an authorized visa center, depending on your country of legal residence.
• Check whether Estonia is represented by another country

  Estonian guidance states that an appointment is required for lodging an application, and every applicant, including minors, must have a separate appointment.
• Submit your application in person where required
  Attend the Estonian mission, representing mission, or visa center with your passport, signed form, photo, appointment proof, insurance certificate, financial documents, and supporting papers.
• Provide biometrics
  Fingerprints and a digital photo are normally collected for many Schengen visa applicants. Children under 12 are generally exempt from fingerprint collection, but local attendance rules may still apply.
• Pay the visa and service fees
  The standard Schengen visa fee is currently €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6 to below 12. Children under 6 are generally exempt from the visa fee, although service provider charges may still apply.
• Track the application if the submission center allows it
  If you apply through a visa center, you may receive tracking instructions after submission. In some locations, all short-term Schengen visa applications for Estonia are submitted through VFS Global service centers.
• Wait for the decision
  Schengen visa decisions are normally made within 15 calendar days, but the period may be extended up to 45 days if further checks, extra documents, or consultation with other Schengen states are required.
• Collect your passport
  If approved, a visa sticker is placed in the passport. If refused, a written decision should explain the reason and available review or appeal options.

ETIAS is not a replacement for a Schengen visa. The official EU ETIAS website states that ETIAS is for visa-exempt travelers and is expected to start operations in the last quarter of 2026. If your nationality requires a Schengen visa, you still need the correct visa for Estonia.
